Don’t sweat the small stuff
⠀
It’s easy to get caught up in the details. Many people may initially find it comforting to delve into the minutiae of exercise and nutrition as a means to gain “control” of their situation.
⠀
But that can be a losing battle for many.
⠀
People often find that the more they attempt to control and obsess over the smaller details of their fitness & nutrition, the more difficult it is for them to remain consistent, and maintain their results long-term.
❓So what’s the solution❓
𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲
⠀
If you are just starting out, and have more “general” goals such as:
- Getting fit
- Being more active
- Improving your body composition
- Feeling/Sleeping better
None of these things require any specialized diet or exercise program unless you have a medical condition that dictates otherwise.
⠀
The reality is that there are numerous ways to achieve the things listed above. The key here is to recognize that there are a few simple things you can use to get you there safely and effectively.
⠀
🔺 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲:
⠀
✅ Engaging in a Resistance/Strength Training routine 2-5 times a week
⠀
✅ Eating sensibly, and being mindful of what and how much you are eating
⠀
✅ Getting an adequate amount of protein & fiber in your diet
⠀
✅ Getting 7-8 hours of sleep every night
⠀
Once you’ve truly adopted a fit and healthy lifestyle, it’s much easier to branch out and hone your focus on other areas of that lifestyle.
Focusing on the bigger picture allows us to take a more sustainable and practical approach. You can always delve into the details more in the future, but not until you’ve laid a solid foundation of consistency.
