“More” is not better. Better is better.

There is a widespread mindset among the “High intensity functional fitness community”, that in order to make progress, you’ve got to really push yourself. That’s not entirely wrong, but I’m here to tell you that adopting that mindset to every workout you do is extremely counterproductive, and dangerous. Not to mention, it’s a surefire way to burn yourself out mentally, and end up dreading your workouts.

Learning to Enjoy the Process

Motivation will only take you so far. The problem with motivation is that it’s fleeting. It’s very easy to get pumped up about trying to lose weight on a new diet, or to go buy your first pair of running shoes as you begin training for a 10K. That’s dopamine talking, and it only speaks for so long.
